The XPAN II is a follow-on to the XPAN released in 1996. It was developed jointly with Fuji Photo.
As its predecessor, it can deliver on a 135 film 24 x 36 mm or 24 x 65 mm frames. With the former format 24 or 36 exposures will be available, whereas the latter will only allow 13 or 21 exposures. It is possible to change formats within the same roll of film, without having to open the camera. The finder will adapt to both selected format and focal length.
The lens is interchangeable. The available range is limited : 31, 45, or 90 mm. The 45 is the standard lens.
The liquid crystal display which is located on the back gathers all setting parameters. the scrolling wheels of the first version have become small buttons regrouped around the screen. The shutter speed is from now on displayed in the viewfinder.
